Eulogy – Pamela Bryceland

Born 15.08.1930 in Shoeburyness, Essex. Only daughter of Tom and Jessie Thornton.
Her father was in the regular army and she spent some of the early years of her life in Singapore. In 1939, she and her Mother came back to England and lived in Aldershot until the end of the war when her Father came home.
Pam met Geoff Smoker when she was 15 and they married in 1950 going to have a daughter, Rosemary.
Pam went to college and trained as a typist, eventually becoming the manager’s secretary at Barclays Bank in Hatfield, a job she enjoyed very much.
Very sadly, Geoff passed away in 1980 after a long illness.
Pam met Bill Bryceland through the bank and they married in 1981. She became “Mum” and “Grandpams” to Bill’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, Including Bobbie, who she was very close to.
Pam and Bill bought a house in Welwyn and very much enjoyed their garden and their many cruises and holidays abroad.
They downsized to Knebworth in 2009 and Bill sadly passed away in 2011.
Since then, Pam has been on her own although enjoyed lots of visit from friends and family.
Unfortunately, her mobility and health declined and although her last few years were not easy, she was cared for and looked after by some amazing and dedicated carers.
She passed away peacefully in her own home as she wished and will be fondly remembered and missed by all those who knew and loved her.
